Young Artist Competition

FSSL Young Artist Competition Form

The Young Artist Competition is for any student, adult amateur, or professional between the ages of 16 and 30. The applicant must live within a 250 mile radius of St. Louis and be a member of this organization. Each performer may choose any standard flute repertoire no more than 10 minutes in length. If the music contains accompaniment, the applicant must supply their own accompanist. The application fee for this competition is a non-refundable $30.00, which includes your entrance into both the master class and recital. This application must be postmarked by April 15, 2012 and all applicants will receive notification of their scheduled performance time by April 25, 2012. The first and second place winners of this competition will receive cash rewards!

Advanced High School/College/Adult: Auditioned Master Class with Dr. John McMurtery

FSSL Masterclass Form

For an opportunity to perform for our guest artist, Dr. John McMurtery, all applicants must complete the master class application and submit an unedited CD of the repertoire they wish to perform. The judges will select five participants and 2 alternates for this master class. All applicants must be at least 16 years of age and be a member of the Flute Society of Saint Louis. The applicant may choose any standard repertoire of no more than 10 minutes in length. If the music is with accompaniment, then the accompaniment must be included on the CD. If selected to perform in the master class, a pianist will be provided. The application must be postmarked by April 15, 2012 and include the following: application, unedited CD, $30.00 non-refundable application fee, and short biography of performer. All applicants will be notified by April 25, 2012.

Middle and High School Master Class Form

This master class is designed for students between the ages of 9 and 17 that love to play the flute. The guest clinician for this master class is flutist David Nischwitz. All applicants must fill out the proper application with the attached recommendation form to be filled out by either the student’s music director or private teacher. Judges for this competition will select five participants and two alternates based on the recommendation of their teacher. Applicants may choose any standard repertoire of no more than 10 minutes in length. If the music requires accompaniment, a pianist will be provided for the performer, however, it is not necessary for the performer to play with piano if they do not feel comfortable. All applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2012 and include the $10.00 non-refundable application fee and short biography of the performer. All applicants will be notified by April 25, 2012.
